First-Time Buyer? Here's Everything You Actually Want to Know

If you've never worn silicone nipple covers before, you probably have questions. Do they actually stay on? Will they show under a white tee? Is this going to be uncomfortable all day?

We get asked these constantly, so let's clear it up. No jargon, no vague reassurances — just straight answers from the people who make the product.

The Questions Everyone Asks (But Rarely Says Out Loud)

Will they actually stay on? Yes — that's the entire point of the design. Our covers use a soft silicone edge that creates its own hold against skin, no separate adhesive strip required. The 0.03mm tapered edge is what makes the difference: thick enough to hold, thin enough that you forget it's there. Sweat, movement, a full day at your desk or a night out — they're built for all of it.

Will people be able to tell I'm wearing them? Under most fabrics, no. That's why we make PINKYFITS in three shades — Oat, Maple, and Truffle — so you can match your skin tone rather than settle for one generic option. Match the shade, and the covers sit flat and low-profile under everything from silk to fitted knits.

How long can I wear them in one go? They're designed for all-day wear. Because there's no adhesive layer sitting directly against your skin — that's our ComfortZone™ centre — most people find them comfortable to keep on for extended periods without the tightness or tugging you get with adhesive-only alternatives.

Can I shower or swim in them? They're reusable and washable, which means water isn't the enemy — you can rinse them clean after wear. We'll always tell you specifics in our care guide, but the short version: they're built to be used again and again, not thrown away after one outing.

Do they hurt to take off? No — and this is one of the biggest myths (more on that below). Because the centre is adhesion-free, removal is simple. No wincing, no red marks, no dreading the end of the night. Comfortable for your most sensitive area — your nipple.

What size do I actually need? We offer 8cm, 10cm, and 13cm. If you're between sizes, size up — a slightly larger cover sits more securely and looks more natural than one that's stretched to fit. Our sizing guide walks through it in more detail if you want to double check before you order.

How many times can I reuse a pair? They're made to be a long-term addition to your routine, not a single-use product. With proper care between wears, one pair is designed to last you through repeated use — not just one dress, one event, one summer. Reusable up to 25 times with proper care.

Myths We're Officially Busting

"Silicone covers look fake or obvious." This was true of the first generation of nipple covers — thick, shiny, one shade fits all. That's not what's on the market now. A well-made cover in the right shade, with a properly tapered edge, sits flat and disappears under clothing. That's the entire design brief we built PINKYFITS around: gentle on skin, built to last, designed to disappear.

"They only work under thick fabric." Actually the opposite is often true. Thin, clingy, or light-coloured fabrics are exactly where nipple covers matter most — and where a flat, tapered edge (rather than a raised or domed centre) makes the real difference between visible and invisible.

"One size fits everyone." It doesn't, and any brand telling you otherwise is guessing on your behalf. That's why we offer three sizes. The right fit is the difference between "I forgot I was wearing these" and constantly adjusting through the day.

"Adhesive covers are the only kind that actually stay put." Adhesive isn't what makes a cover secure — edge design is. Our tapered silicone edge is engineered to hold on its own, without a sticky layer against the most sensitive skin on your body. You get the hold without the discomfort of peeling it off later.

"Reusable means less reliable." Reusable doesn't mean lower performance — it means better economics and less waste. A well-made silicone cover, cared for properly, holds up to repeated wear without losing its shape or grip. You're not compromising to get sustainability; you're just avoiding the cost — and landfill — of single-use versions.
